Boston Celtics G Marcus Smart remains out of the lineup Friday vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers but could return Saturday, per coach Brad Stevens.
#NEBHInjuryReport Brad Stevens says Marcus Smart is out today. He’ll get “a good, hard workout in” pregame today and could very well play tomorrow.

Stevens says that Smart will get a good workout in during pregame warmups Friday afternoon and he’s on track to potentially return Saturday at home against the Toronto Raptors. The Celtics have missed Smart’s physical presence in the backcourt, but have been pretty successful without the guard in the lineup. Boston is 5-2 with Smart out of the lineup the past seven games.
If Smart returns Saturday vs. the Raptors, we’d likely see the same starting lineup, though Smart would become the first guard off the bench instead of Brad Wanamaker and Romeo Langford. Smart isn’t any kind of offensive juggernaut, but will take shots away from guys like Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker. Nothing too significant though.
