The NFL wraps up its final practice week of the regular season on Friday, and it will bring some important clarity heading into the Week 17 finale. Some playoff teams have already announced plans to rest starters this weekend, while others are discussing it but claim they’ve made no final decisions.
We’ve seen extensive line movement at DraftKings Sportsbook, based in part on the news and in part on speculation. Three games have seen significant movement away from the expected favorite due to decisions that have or will soon be announced. These include Steelers-Ravens, Bears-Vikings, and Cardinals-Rams.
The Ravens opened as one-point favorites but are now two-point underdogs after John Harbaugh announced they will sit Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram, Earl Thomas, and others. Mason Rudolph and Maurkice Pouncey won’t play for the Steelers due to injuries.
The Vikings have not announced their plans for Sunday, but head coach Mike Zimmer said on Thursday that he is weighing his options. The Vikings are locked into the No. 6 seed, so expect some starters to get rest.
The Cardinals and Rams have nothing to play for, but early in the week Rams head coach Sean McVay acknowledged he is balancing getting one more win with not aggravating some of the many injuries the team is dealing with. That line has dropped 2.5 points since it opened.
The most intriguing line movement belongs to the Titans and Texans. Tennessee opened as a 1.5-point favorite, then moved to as high as five points, and is now sitting at 3.5. The Texans can still clinch a first round bye with a win and a Chiefs loss. However, the Chiefs will play in the 1:00 p.m. slot while the Texans will play in the 4:25 p.m. slot. If the Chiefs win, the Texans will be locked into the No. 4 seed and could decide to rest some starters. Sportsbooks don’t know what will happen in that early slot, but have to account for that in setting the line this week.
Here’s a full rundown of point spread as of Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. We’ll keep track of the extensive movement that is likely to happen.
