The New Orleans Saints included quarterback Drew Brees on their estimated Wednesday practice participation report, listing him as limited with a knee injury. On Thursday, head coach Sean Payton said Brees had some inflammation and he was listed in case he had to wear a sleeve on his knee, according to beat writer Katherine Terrell.
Payton said Brees is fine as they head into their Thursday practice. Most teams did not practice on Christmas, and so the reports were estimated. They will all practice on Thursday, at which point we’ll get a better handle on some of the more questionable players. Brees is not going to be one of those players based on this injury.
Fantasy football analysis: Saints QB Drew Brees
The Saints have a shot at a first round bye with a win and a loss by either the Packers or 49ers. They have a shot at home field through the NFC playoffs if both teams lose. All that is to say, they’ve got plenty to play for at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Drew Brees is the third highest priced quarterback in Week 17 at DraftKings. He’s got as good a floor as any player, but headed outdoors against a Panthers team that has given up the seventh fewest DraftKings fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks makes him a less than stellar option. He’s a guy you start in traditional fantasy championships that are happening this week, but avoid him in DFS.
