Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel is active and will play in Week 16 vs. the Indianapolis Colts. Samuel was questionable heading into Sunday due to a knee injury but will be able to play in QB Will Grier’s first NFL start. It’s good news for Grier and the Panthers, who are really only playing to see what they have in their young QB, plus to pad Christian McCaffrey’s stats.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel

I’m 100% bias here because I went to West Virginia University, but I think Grier playing is a big boost for Samuel over Kyle Allen. Grier has a big arm and isn’t afraid to sling it, so Samuel should get some looks on the deep ball if he’s healthy. In terms of fantasy, I’d say he’s somewhat risky as a boom-or-bust option, but this matchup is winnable against the Colts. Samuel is a decent FLEX in deeper leagues but in shallow 8 or 10-team formats, I’d probably keep it safe and go with a better wideout.
