Top daily fantasy football wide receiver plays over $5,500 in Week 16

Steve Buchanan goes over three receivers priced above $5,500 that could be in for a big Week 16!

The Week 16 slate is loaded at the wide receiver with options to pay up for and ways to pay down. This piece will cover options to pay up for and the reasons why you should do so. Let’s get into it!

Tyler Lockett (SEA) - $7,600

It’s been quite a while since we saw a big game from Lockett but last week against the Panthers finally saw it happen. Drawing nine targets, Lockett made eight receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown, good for 29 DKFP. Now he’s on tap to face the Cardinals, who against opposing receivers are allowing an average of 25 DKFP, 183 receiving yards and 12.3 YPR to opposing wide receivers per week. Specifically, Lockett will be drawing coverage against CB Byron Murphy, who is allowing a 69% catch rate for 9.5 YPR and has been scored on nine times. Lockett is a very boom-or-bust option on a week-to-week basis but the upside he brings now that he’s fully healthy is simply too high to ignore, especially in this type of matchup. Don’t let the $700 increase in salary scare you off.

D.J. Moore (CAR) - $6,900

Sure, the news that Will Grier will be starting for the Panthers isn’t great news. But if we’re being completely honest, did we really feel great about Kyle Allen under center for essentially the entire season? Grier not looking in the preseason certainly doesn’t make you feel great about using someone like Moore but the matchup is almost too good to pass up. The Colts have simply been dismantled by opposing receivers, allowing an average of 26 DKFP, 172 receiving yards and 13.6 YPR. Matchup wise, Moore is going to draw CB Pierre Desir in coverage, who is allowing a 69% catch rate, 16.8 YPR and has been scored on five times. I totally understand if people are going to question using him because of Grier under center but again, I can’t exactly say Moore has been in a great position the entire season with who is throwing to him.

Keenan Allen (LAC) - $6,300

I feel like Allen hasn’t been talked about much this season after such a hot start. We finally have a season where Allen is healthy and we haven’t exactly received those big games from him that we are accustomed too. He has quite the opportunity in front of him in Week 16 in a very favorable matchup against the Raiders. This secondary has been absolutely roasted this season and enter this game having allowed an average of 25.2 DKFP, 172 receiving yards and 15.6 YPR. Allen is still drawing a very healthy amount of targets, averaging 7.3 over his last three games, a span he’s made 20 receptions for 250 yards. In coverage, he’ll draw CB Lamarcus Joyner, who has allowed a 75% catch rate with 10.5 YPR and three touchdowns scored. Allen who also have a huge height advantage on Joyner, who is listed as 5’8” compared to Allen at 6’2”. If the targets continue to go in Allen’s directions, which essentially has happened all season long, he should be in for a big afternoon at home.
