The Liberty Flames are in a bowl game for the first time, and the Georgia Southern Eagles are looking for their third consecutive bowl victory as the Cure Bowl takes place on Saturday, Dec. 21.
Hugh Freeze is in his first year back as a head coach and led Liberty to its first bowl game. It was an interesting start to the year when he coached the team from a hospital bed and from a dental chair in the first few weeks. What a first impression.
Georgia Southern quickly fell to a two-win program before Chad Lunsford took over in 2018 to get the Eagles back to 10-3 and a win in the Camellia Bowl. He has Georgia Southern bowling once again. Appalachian State has one loss this season, and it came at the hands of Georgia Southern.
Game Time/TV Channel/Streaming
The Cure Bowl will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, Dec. 21 and can be seen on CBS Sports Network.

The Best Bet
Yes, Liberty is 7-5 and it’s been a nice story for the Flames, but they have played some horrendous teams this season. Liberty played two FCS teams, won twice against New Mexico State and beat UMass and New Mexico. Almost every team would go 6-0 in that stretch, but credit to Liberty because the Flames went out and did it. I just don’t think they’re tested enough, and Georgia Southern should win easily.
Pick: Georgia Southern -4.5
