Julian Edelman expected to play in spite of numerous injuries

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is all sorts of banged up, but he is expected to play in Week 16. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The New England Patriots host the Buffalo Bills in a pivotal Week 16 matchup and Tom Brady will likely have a key weapon at his disposal. Wide receiver Julian Edelman has been banged up most of the season and is listed as questionable on the final injury after three straight limited practices. However, he is expected to play, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport.

Edelman is dealing with shoulder and knee issues, but the most interesting part of Rapoport’s report is that he is actually less banged up this week than last week. Rapoport said to expect Edelman to be closer to his old self on Sunday.

Fantasy football analysis: Patriots WR Julian Edelman

Edelman will play, but faces a tough matchup against a stout Bills defense. Buffalo has given up the fourth fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. Edelman is not a must start this week, but should get a shot at some decent volume in PPR leagues. He only had two receptions on five targets in last week’s win over Cincinnati, but look for him to bounce back to some degree.
