Joe Mixon finds end zone in Bengals upset of Jets

It’s been a rough season for Joe Mixon and the Bengals, but they managed a win in Week 13. We break down Mixon’s fantasy football performance and what Week 14 brings.

The Cincinnati Bengals will not go winless in 2019! The Bengals rolled over the New York Jets in Week 13 to improve to 1-11 and leave the race for the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft a bit more open.

Andy Dalton made his return to the starting lineup and spread the ball pretty evenly among his pass catchers. Running back Joe Mixon continued with his not so spectacular volume work in the offense. He caught all four of his targets in the passing game, finishing with 26 receiving yards. He rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown, averaging 2.3 yards per carry. He finished with 17 DraftKings fantasy points.

Mixon is having a depressing season, but like several other backs in the league, fantasy players are at least guaranteed starter’s volume. Giovani Bernard is not replacing Mixon anytime soon, so you at least know the running back will get 20+ touches a game. His performances do not inspire confidence heading into the fantasy football playoffs, but if you lack depth, it’s better than nothing.

The Bengals travel to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 14. Cleveland has given up the 13th fewest fantasy points to running backs, so this isn’t exactly an ideal matchup in the opening round of most fantasy football playoffs.
