Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges will start vs. Jets, Week 16

Devlin Hodges is coming off the worst game of his short career, where he four interceptions at home against the Bills Sunday night. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin didn’t go ahead and say Hodges would start in his press conference on Monday but he’s now given Hodges the nod.

The Steelers are still in the playoff hunt despite their loss to the Bills, while Mason Rudolph did nothing as the starter to give the team much faith that returning to him as the starter would be beneficial. Neither quarterback has done enough to move the Steelers offense in meaningful ways, so Hodges gets the start after managing his team to three wins in a row before their last loss.

A win this week against the Jets and then next week against what should be a resting Ravens team, gives Pittsburgh a playoff berth. They could even beat the Jets and lose to the Ravens and still make it in if the Titans lose to the Saints and the Texans to finish the season.

The way the Steelers offense looked in Week 15 sure doesn’t give anyone confidence they could do anything in the playoffs, but you’ve got to get there first.
