NBA Trade Deadline Week has arrived!
Update: The week is finally here. We’ve got the NBA Trade Deadline fast approaching on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. ET. So far on Monday we’ve gotten a few big reports. Clint Capela could be on his way out of Houston with the Rockets seeking a deal with either the Celtics or Hawks. Capela is on a very team-friendly contract and could bring back assets and depth pieces that could help Houston on a playoff run.
The Celtics really need to add size, but are reluctant to part ways with Marcus Smart. Still, could Danny Ainge swallow his pride and make the smart move? Boston’s lineup would be much better off with Capela down low than sticking with Enes Kanter and Daniel Theis the rest of the season.
D’Angelo Russell’s name has popped up quite a bit today as well. The Timberwolves are going after Russell, with the Warriors engaged in talks while listening to offers from other teams. One of those other teams? The New York Knicks, according to The Athletic.
UPDATE, Jan. 3: The Athletic’s Shams Charania has had plenty to report on the Trade Market recently. One of the more notable reports is that the Los Angeles Lakers have gotten calls on Kyle Kuzma. Most of it is just due diligence, but maybe there’s a deal that can be made considering Kuzma has struggled and the Lakers are first in the West.
NBA Trade season is upon us! Sure, the NBA Trade Deadline isn’t until February 6th, 2020, but we’ve already got plenty of news and rumors spreading throughout the League. Not only is this big for the race to the NBA Finals, but it’s important to keep an eye on trade news for fantasy basketball purposes. If somebody is definitely going to get dealt, you want to be ahead of the game, capitalizing on players who might benefit if a player is shipped out.
The big names reportedly out on the market include Kevin Love, Andre Drummond, Jrue Holiday, Kyle Lowry, Andre Drummond and Andre Iguodala. Plenty of new names will emerge, but so far, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe, those are the guys we should be focusing on right now. Love is the only one we know will definitely get moved given his dissatisfaction with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the need for a big man on contending teams.
We can also expect contending teams to be active in the Market. The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers could get into an arms race to try and lock up the No. 1 seed in the West. Plus, the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks should also be active. In this stream, you’ll be able to get all the latest news, rumors and analysis surrounding the 2019-2020 NBA trade market heading into the deadline.
