UPDATE: Perriman finished the game with five receptions for 113 yards and three TDs for a total of 34.6 fantasy points. Of important note, Chris Godwin left the game with a hamstring injury and was quickly ruled out. Perriman may be asked to take on an even larger role as the Bucs No. 1 wideout next week should Godwin be ruled out for Week 16 vs. Houston.
Heading into halftime of Week 15 vs. the Detroit Lions, Breshad Perriman has caught four of four targets for 88 yards and two touchdowns for 25.1 fantasy points. With a full half of football to go, Perriman has already surpassed his season high fantasy total by 9 points.
Mike Evans averaged nearly 10 targets per game over the course of the season and left a gaping hole in the Buccaneers offense when he went down with a significant hamstring injury in Week 14. With Evans out of the picture, defenses are more likely to focus on Tampa Bay’s other top target, Chris Godwin.
Opponents may need to rethink their strategy, however, as Perriman has proven that he is a threat that can’t be ignored. Prior to this week, Perriman had a season high of five receptions in any single game. He will look to continue improve on his personal bests in the second half against a Lions defense who have not had an answer for him to this point.
