Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is having a solid season, and he is continuing it with a big first half against the New York Giants. Fitzpatrick just threw a touchdown pass to DeVante Parker to give the Giants a 7-0 lead. Fitzpatrick has completed 12 of 16 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown.
Where it gets interesting is that he also has a team-leading 24 rushing yards on two carries. It’s notable in part because he’s not the most dynamic of rushing options, but it’s also notable because he has taken the season lead in rushing for the Dolphins.
Entering the game, Mark Walton led the team with 201 rushing yards. The team released him after a recent domestic violence arrest. Fitzpatrick was second with 186 yards, so the 24 yards moves him into the lead. Former Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake is third with 174 yards and injured running back Kalen Ballage is fourth with 135 yards. Patrick Laird is next at 84 yards and is the most notable running back still playing. He has nine yards at this point.
