It would be understandable if you’ve written Mayfield off for the fantasy playoffs, as he’s coming off two awful games. The Steelers shut him down in Pittsburgh, which is understandable but the bengals held him without a touchdown pass, under 200 yards, and a 50 percent completion rate while picking him off three times. That’s plain bad.
But before these last two games, Mayfield had been putting up useful numbers, with 17.1, 17.6, 21.8 and 23.6 in his previous four games. He now heads to Arizona, where the pass defenses is bad and the pace is heightened.
Fantasy football analysis: Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield
The Cardinals have given up 28.5 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. That’s 296.6 passing yards for 2.46 touchdowns per game and a league high 71.8 percent completion rate. Those are truly awful stats to allow and Mayfield is next.
The Cardinals are the worst at defending slot receivers and Jarvis Landry has become Mayfield’s top target and they also just got their right end David Njoku back and you probably know how bad they’ve been at stopping that position. I understand the hesitation of starting Mayfield in the fantasy playoffs but this is the safest matchup he’s had all season and he has the weapons to put up a strong number this week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Mayfield.
