Week 14 did not go as planned for Jacoby Brissett and the Indianapolis Colts, as they squandered away a 14 point lead and lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Colts now have almost no chance at making the playoffs. Brissett was 19 of 36 for 251 yards and two touchdowns in that game. He also added 26 yards on four carries, for a total of 22.6 fantasy points against the 31st ranked Buccaneers pass defense. This week, the Colts face a pass defense of a bit higher caliber, as they take on the New Orleans Saints. We break down the fantasy implications below.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Jacoby Brissett

Brissett is averaging 15.9 fantasy points per game this season, placing him in the bottom half of the pack. Last week was Brissett’s first game with multiple passing TDs since Week 7, and this came against an under performing Buccaneers secondary.

The Saints have a good pass defense, which became even better since the return of Marshon Lattimore, though it pales in comparison to their elite run defense. This may force the Colts to look to Brisset to lead them through the air, but Brissett continues to lose options in the passing game. As of now it’s looking like he will once again be without T.Y. Hilton, and Parris Campbell unfortunately landed on IR earlier this week. That leaves Brissett with a reliable tight end in Jack Doyle, and Zach Pascal and Marcus Johnson as his top two wide receivers.

Brissett can be considered to be an average quarterback to begin with, and when you factor in the tough match-up, and the lack of reliable targets to throw to, the situation looks even more bleak. It is likely that there are better options out there for you at quarterback this week.

Start/Sit Recommendation:

Sit Brissett in standard leagues.
