The Baltimore Ravens host the New York Jets in the final Thursday Night Football game of the 2019 season. It also marks the last national audience game for Lamar Jackson until the playoffs get here in January. The likely MVP gets one more chance to shine on the national stage to further solidify his MVP case.
However, Jackson comes into the game at less than 100 percent. The Ravens added Jackson to their injury report this week due to a quadricep injury. He suffered the injury on what he described as a low hit on his touchdown pass to tight end Hayden Hurst.
He was listed as limited all three days this week, and while he was not included on the final injury report, he will be operating at less than peak efficiency.
Given how Jackson has performed this season and given how inconsistent the Jets defense is, a 75 or 80 percent Jackson is still better than most quarterbacks in the NFL.
Fantasy football analysis: Ravens QB Lamar Jackson
Jackson has said he will start on Thursday, and given that he’s been able to practice, fantasy football players are safe in slotting him into their starting lineups.
It is reasonable to wonder what this injury might mean for his high ceiling. A quad injury might lead to him staying in the pocket a bit more and running a bit less. One has to wonder if it will impact his throwing mechanics as well. This is not to say you should bench Jackson in your fantasy football playoffs. Rather, it’s simply to consider expectations for a player who has been the best fantasy player by a long shot. He’s going to get you plenty of points, but will it be the usual ridiculous amount, or just really good? He’s a great start regardless.
