Damien Williams returns to practice for first time since Week 11

The Chiefs backfield might get a little bit busier in Week 15. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The Kansas City Chiefs kicked off Week 15 on Wednesday and welcomed running back Damien Williams back to practice, according to beat writer Herbie Teope. Head coach told the media that Williams will “test it out” in practice before they figure out next steps.

Williams suffered a rib injury in Week 11 and has not practiced since returning from the team’s Week 12 bye. LeSean McCoy and Darwin Thompson have gotten the bulk of the work the past two weeks, and the team also signed Spencer Ware last week.

Fantasy football analysis: Chiefs RB Damien Williams

If Williams returns on Sunday, this creates quite the fantasy headache. Williams came into the season as the starter, but injuries have slowed him. McCoy looked like he would claim the starting job in Williams’ absence, but fumbles have resulted in the Chiefs backfield regularly changing.

This is a situation to monitor as it is hard to decipher the game plan for the time being. We likely won’t have a clear answer heading into Sunday, but the injury report could clear it out to a certain degree.
