UPDATE: The Jaguars announced their pre-practice injury report, and D.J. Chark is not going to practice due to what is described as an ankle injury. Dede Westbrook is listed on the participation report as well with a neck/shoulder injury, but is expected to practice.
The Jacksonville Jaguars travel to face the Oakland Raiders in Week 15, and D.J. Chark’s status is uncertain for the time being. The Jaguars receiver injured his foot last week and was wearing a walking boot after the game. On Monday, head coach Doug Marrone was not all that clear about his status, telling the media Chark was “week-to-week or day-to-day.”
Marrone said Chark wants to play, “which is always a great sign,” but he said the training staff will have to wait and see with him. The team returns to practice on Wednesday, which is when we’ll start to get a handle on his status.
Fantasy football analysis: Jaguars WR D.J. Chark
Considering the Jaguars are out of playoff contention, fantasy football players should not be surprised to see Chark sit this week and potentially next week as well. He could surprise us, but it would not seem to make sense aggravating an injury in meaningless games.
Last week, Chris Conley was second on the team in snaps, but Dede Westbrook was second in targets and receptions. The Raiders defense has been shaky this season, but it’s hard to justify either Conley or Westbrook as a viable starting option in a lot of leagues. In deeper leagues, Westbrook holds a little more value, particularly in PPR leagues.
