Before you decide to head out for your New Year’s Eve party, be sure to tune in to the Alamo Bowl between the Utah Utes and the Texas Longhorns. No matter the time zone you’re in in the United States, this will get done before midnight.
It was a tough drop for Utah, which played for a spot in the College Football Playoff over the weekend but lost to Oregon in the Pac-12 title game. The Utes fell all the way down to the Alamo Bowl where they will see an underachieving Texas team.
Despite what Paul Finebaum says, this is Utah team is very fun to watch. If you haven’t seen them to this point of the season, you should do it now because they’re losing key pieces next year with a Marshawn Lynch-style running back Zack Moss and an electric quarterback in Tyler Huntley.
On the other side, Texas had an over/under win total of 9.5 only to finish 7-5 in the third year with Tom Herman as the head coach as the defense struggled to stop teams.

Initial Betting Analysis
My lean in the Alamo Bowl is to take Utah but I think by the time we get to kickoff, that number will drop to below 7, which is what you want. Texas is a big brand team, while Utah is not, leading me to believe casual bettors will go after the Longhorns in this matchup. Wait till that number gets to Utah -6.5 or lower and jump on it because the Utes will want to end this special season on a high note.
