Raiders-Chiefs game offers playoff implications in Week 13

The Chiefs and Oakland face off in a big division matchup.

The Raiders missed a golden opportunity to tie the Chiefs in the win/loss column and keep hold of a wildcard spot last week, but instead, they were blown out by the 3-7 Jets. Kansas City beat the Chargers in a game they needed, s they had gone 2-4 in their previous six games.

The Chiefs come out of the bye healthy and are ten-point favorites over the Raiders in Kansas City. In their first matchup, the Chiefs won handily 28-10 in Week 2. If the Raiders lose again, they will take a significant fall in the division, but still would have a puncher’s chance at the wildcard spot.

Oakland has played well, especially at home this season, but their loss to the Jets was humiliating, and if they get blown out in Kansas City, their season will be on the brink. Kansas City hasn’t played well enough this year to have hopes of coasting, though.

A loss to the Raiders at home would put the Chiefs at 7-5 with the Raiders at 7-5 as well. They’d have split their series, so the tiebreaker would move to the division record, which they would tie at 3-1. As 10-point favorites, the odds are, of course, on Kansas City’s side, but this is the NFL, and anything can happen.
