Philip Rivers ranks 16th in total quarterback fantasy points and 19th in fantasy points per game. Last season he had three games with fewer than two or more touchdowns, and this year through nine games, he has four. His career touchdown percentage sits at 5.3 percent, while his 2019 rate is a career-low 3.6 percent. That number is going to go up, as he currently leads the league in overall passing yards.

It isn’t as if Rivers isn’t getting his shots. He currently ranks third in overall pass attempts inside the red zone. Yes, the Chargers would rather run the ball and slow the game down for the most part, but Rivers has always been efficient, and this year isn’t indicative of his usual averages.

If a quarterback wants to get his touchdown numbers up, the Raiders are the team to accommodate him. So far, Oakland has allowed 2.75 touchdown passes per game, which is the league-high. On the season they’ve given up 22 touchdowns to just four interceptions and rank ninth-worst at adjusted sack rate,

Rivers will have time to throw, and the recent addition of Russell Okung helps shore up the offensive line. That time should help him get the ball deep, which has been a big problem for the Raiders, who have allowed the second-highest yards per completion and the most 20+ yard receptions on the season.

Rivers costs $5,500 on the Thursday-Monday slate and is the highest-priced player in TNF Showdown. His Showdown price is a little steep for his production this season, but they’re jacking his price up due to the fantastic matchup. He’ll still be on the majority of my teams for TNF. The Thu-Mon slate is a good spot for him at his price, as he’s the 21st priced quarterback going. Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones are above him!
