Considering safe, value, trap picks for Week 10 Survivor pools

We had some Week 9 upsets clear things out in Survivor pools, with the Dolphins finally getting their first win. We’re back to help you prep your Week 10 Survivor pool strategy.

Welcome to Week 10! The NFL is through the halfway point, and we’re down to one undefeated team and one winless team. In Week 9, the New England Patriots were thumped by the Baltimore Ravens, and the Miami Dolphins impressed in beating the New York Jets. That leaves the San Francisco 49ers as the only undefeated team, and the Cincinnati Bengals as the only winless team.

As we head into Week 10, we’re back to offer you advice for your NFL Survivor pools. This week, the Patriots, Eagles, Jaguars, Texans, Broncos, and Washington are on bye. We’re fast approaching the point where the Patriots will be used. The Eagles and Texans will offer some value as well in the coming weeks.

If you’ve never taken part in a Survivor pool, it involves picking one team each week that you think will win. If your team wins in Week 1, you can make a pick in Week 2. If your team wins in Week 2, you can make a pick in Week 3, and so on. The catch is that you cannot pick the same team twice. You could use a heavy favorite in Week 1, but you would not have access to them later in the year if you’re alive in the closing weeks.

Whether you are in a single-elimination or double-elimination contest, there is plenty of strategy in determining which team you will take each week. DK Nation is here to help with a look at safe choices, value choices, and potential traps.

On to Week 10 picks!

Thursday Night Football pick

Los Angeles Chargers over Oakland Raiders

The Chargers are a one-point road dog and they’re entering the point in the season where

Safest picks

New Orleans Saints over Atlanta Falcons

I pondered this as a trap pick given the divisional nature, but I have a feeling we see the Saints crush the Falcons. Atlanta is a mess, and while this is a big rivalry game, I just don’t see the Falcons hanging around in this one. I don’t see New Orleans overlooking Atlanta either given the rivalry nature and this being Brees’ second game back from injury.

Best value picks

Baltimore Ravens over Cincinnati Bengals

Divisional road games are not ideal, but the Ravens defense is gonna do rookie Ryan Finley dirty. The Ravens still have a home game against the Jets in Week 15, but that weekend offers a lot of other opportunities if you’re still alive.

Trap pick

Indianapolis Colts over Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are on a roll having snapped their winless streak, but remain a bad team. They face a Colts team that could be sending out Brian Hoyer. Indy is better regardless, but I’m not prepared to roll with Hoyer this late in the Survivor season.
