Best available RBs on Week 10 waiver wire

We break down the best running back waiver wire options for Week 10. This is a good week to get those claims in on the top backups in the league.

We’ll take a look at players who are available in the majority of ESPN fantasy football leagues. There aren’t any high FAAB adds this week, but there is talent out there worht adding to your bench, especially high upside backups.

We are in the heart of the bye weeks, as the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington will all get a week off, which means a glut of committee backs will be on your bench. Leonard Fournette, Phillip Lindsay, Royce Freeman, Sony Michel, James White, Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders, and Adrian Peterson all need to be replaced this week.

Ronald Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (37.8 percent)

Jones took over as the starting running back finally and put together a decent game in Seattle, rushing 18 times for 67 yards and a touchdown, while catching both of his targets for 15 more yards. The job is finally his to lose, and he gets a plus matchup at home against the Cardinals in Week 10.

Kalen Ballage, Miami Dolphins (8.8 percent)

Mark Walton has been suspended for four games. With Kenyan Drake already gone and Patrick Laird and Myles Gaskin the only other running backs on the roster, Ballage will take over as the lead back. Ballage has served as the goal line back for most of the season, which helped him to three touchdowns in the first three weeks, but he’s had one since then. His efficiency numbers are rotten, but with Ryan Fitzpatrick moving the offense better than Josh Rosen, there may be more opportunities for Ballage moving forward.

Ty Johnson/J.D. McKissic, Detroit Lions (47.3/5.8 percent)

Johnson and McKissic appear to be the committee that will take over for Kerryon Johnson for now. Johnson saw the bulk of the snaps, but McKissic played better on his allotment. He touched the ball seven times for 72 yards and a touchdown while Johnson had 12 touches for 36 yards and no scores. Both have value on a team that ranks Top-12 in pace and scoring.

Bilal Powell, New York Jets (3.2 percent)

Powell recently moved ahead of Ty Montgomery as Le’Veon Bell’s primary backup on game days, and now Bell is getting an MRI on his knee. The Jets are in a spiral at the moment, but getting a starting running back who can catch the ball is still a worthwhile endeavor. Keep your eye on Bell’s injury news.

Alexander Mattison, Minnesota Vikings (21 percent)

We’re now deep into the season, and running backs like Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette have plenty of wear and tear on them. But both have reliable backups, and if your rostering someone like Giovani Bernard or Chris Thompson instead of Mattison or Ryquell Armstead, you’re doing it wrong. Reassess your bench and see if you can fit these top-tier handcuffs.

Ryquell Armstead, Jacksonville Jaguars (1.8 percent)

See above.

Derrius Guice, Washington (32.6 percent)

Guice should be able to return after his Week 10 bye to take on the Jets. He won’t take over Adrian Peterson’s workload from the get-go, and Washington is not putting up much offense, so Guice is still an add for deeper leagues to see if he can get back to form quickly.

Trey Edmunds, Pittsburgh Steelers (1.5 percent)

Edmunds overtook Jaylen Samuels as the between-the-tackles runner after breaking off a big run early in Week 9. Samuels was the receiving back, catching a whopping 13 targets, but Edmunds did rush 12 times for 73 yards and would likely see a similar workload if James Conner remains out.
