Washington is trailing the Buffalo Bills, but running back Adrian Peterson is doing what he can to keep them in it. Through the first half, Peterson has rushed for 101 yards and caught a reception for 22 yards. He is on track to blow past his season-high, which was 118 rushing yards and 18 receiving yards in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins.
The Bills defense has been solid this season, but has struggled against the run. They rank 28th in defensive efficiency against the run and have given up the 11th most fantasy points to running backs.
Fantasy football analysis: RB Adrian Peterson
Washington has been short-handed at running back with Derrius Guice on IR due to a knee injury and Chris Thompson sidelined recently with a turf toe injury. It has provided Peterson with big volume opportunities. Wendell Smallwood is the passing down back, but Peterson has been getting the bulk of the work overall.
Washington heads into their bye after this week, and they could get some reinforcements in the backfield in Week 11. Guice can come off IR and Thompson will look to get his toe back in shape. Guice opened the season as Washington’s starter, and Peterson was inactive in Week 1. We’ll see how Bill Callahan approaches this situation when Guice comes off IR.
