DeShaun Watson: The key to my eye recovery has been Popeyes spicy chicken sandwiches

The spicy chicken sandwich cures all ills.

Houston Texans quarterback DeShaun Watson suffered a nasty eye injury in Week 8, and there were some questions about his availability for Week 9. He had to skip an honorary “Play Ball” opportunity at the World Series to avoid bright lights, but it appeared to help as he was good to go on Sunday in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It turns out something else might have helped him. After throwing two touchdowns and seeing his defense beat the Jaguars soundly, Watson gave a shout-out to the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich.

Watson did not put up monster numbers, but it was a solid morning in London. He threw for 201 yards along with the two touchdowns and added 37 rushing yards. He almost got in for a rushing touchdown, but was called out short of the end zone. He subsequently threw a touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins to cap off a Week 19 performance of 19.7 fantasy points (in standard leagues).

The Texans get a bye week when they return home from London. He’ll have more time for his eye to get better, and with some time off, I assume he’ll be eating plenty of spicy chicken sandwiches.
