Devonta Freeman returns from injury with ‘meh’ Week 13

Devonta Freeman is mired in a season-long slump for fantasy football players. He does have an intriguing Week 14 matchup, however.

Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman returned from his foot sprain and picked up right where he left off before the injury — not in a good place. Freeman rushed for 51 yards on 17 yards (3.0 yards per carry) and added 13 yards on four receptions.

Freeman had missed the previous two games with the injury. Prior to hurting his feet he had three receiving touchdowns and no rushing touchdowns. It’s been a struggle all season long for Freeman. He remains a decent value in PPR leagues, and had 10.40 DraftKings fantasy points for DFS players. It’s production, but there’s just little upside at this point.

Freeman is worth keeping on your traditional fantasy rosters, but there are often going to be better matchups available to start. He does face Carolina next week in the first weekend of fantasy playoffs. The Panthers have given up the third most fantasy points to running backs, so maybe there’s some value to be had. After that, he faces the 49ers (third fewest fantasy points) and Jaguars (eighth most fantasy points). He’s a spot start at best right now.
