Falcons optimistic Julio Jones can play in Week 13 [UPDATE]

Good news for Falcons fans and fantasy football players who roster Julio Jones. We break down the start/sit implications of the latest news in Week 13.

UPDATE

Julio Jones is INACTIVE for Thanksgiving due to his shoulder injury

The Atlanta Falcons are optimistic that wide receiver Julio Jones can play through his shoulder injury in Week 13, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. He did not practice the past three days, but they think his shoulder will be strong enough after suffering an AC joint sprain. He will get final OK after pre-game workouts, but he likely will play.

Fantasy football analysis: Falcons WRs Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage

Jones has not gotten into the end zone since Week 3, which has brought down his ceiling a little bit. He is still the eighth ranked receiver in traditional fantasy, thanks to an impressively high floor. He’s struggled a bit over the past three weeks, averaging a shade over 10 points per game in 0.5 PPR leagues. That’s strong for a lot of receivers, but not quite as high as you’d expect from Jones.

If active as expected, you start Jones. The bigger question is what this means for Ridley and Gate. This game against the Saints should be relatively high scoring. Ridley is worth a WR3/flex start in a lot of leagues. Gage is worth starting in deeper leagues, but his value goes down if Jones gets his full workload.
