UPDATE: Younghoe Koo is off to a brutal start for the Falcons. He has missed an extra point and a field goal as the Falcons currently trail 10-6.
The Atlanta Falcons host the New Orleans Saints Thanksgiving night, and this should be a fun one. The game has a point total over/under of 49, which is tied with Buccaneers-Jaguars and Vikings-Seahawks for the highest of Week 13 at DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Falcons defense is not good ranking in the bottom ten in overall efficiency. The Saints rank better, but they’ve struggled in recent weeks, giving up an average of 24 points per game over the past three weeks since their bye. Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore is trending in the right direction, but if he misses the game or is less than full strength, it could open the door to a shootout in Atlanta.
This bodes well if you are considering either of the kickers in the game. Saints kicker Wil Lutz has reached double digit fantasy points in seven of the Saints 11 games and ranks third in fantasy football. Each of the past two weeks he’s converted four extra points and two field goals. Three weeks ago against the Falcons in New Orleans, he had no extra point opportunities, but still converted three field goals in the stunning Saints loss. The Saints will move the ball effectively, so whether they stall out in the red zone or convert touchdowns, his floor is tremendous.
Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo will make his fourth appearance for the Falcons since replacing Matt Bryant. He has three straight double digit performances, including 15 points against the Saints in Week 10. He converted two extra points and four field goals, and has converted at least three field goals each of his first three games for Atlanta. The Falcons are shaky all around, but they’re still moving the ball effectively enough to create plenty of scoring chances for Koo.
