Betting public loves the road teams on Thanksgiving

We’ve got a look at how the betting public views the Thanksgiving triple-header at DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Thanksgiving tripleheader kicks off in a little over 24 hours, and the betting public is backing the road teams across the board in the early going at DraftKings Sportsbook. They provide regular updates on the betting splits for each game each week, and we’ve got an early look from Tuesday afternoon.

Thanksgiving opens with the Detroit Lions hosting the Chicago Bears. The Bears are a field goal favorite, and the split is not surprising considering the Lions stunk up the joint in Washington last week. 78 percent of the spread handle and 75 percent of the spread bets are on the Bears -3. I get it, but it is always bold to bet on Mitchell Trubisky as a road favorite.

The middle game features the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Buffalo Bills. Dallas is a 6.5-point favorite, but 52 percent of the spread handle and 59 percent of spread bets are on Buffalo. Dak Prescott has struggled at times against quality teams, so I am not entirely surprised the public would back a solid Bills defense. It takes some stones to back Josh Allen on the road, but I’d be much more comfortable with him than with Trubisky.

The final game is the always fun New Orleans Saints-Atlanta Falcons rivalry. The Saints are a 6.5-point favorite, a mere three weeks removed from the Falcons stunning New Orleans in the Superdome. 91 percent of the spread handle and 87 percent of spread bets are on the Saints in this one.
