Lions TE T.J. Hockenson was a late addition to the injury report with a shoulder ailment, but he’s going to suit up and play in Sunday afternoon’s game vs. Washington in Week 12. Hockenson started his rookie season off hot, but has since cooled off, providing inconsistent fantasy football production. Perhaps a matchup vs. Washington is exactly what the Iowa product needs to break out of his slump.
Fantasy Football analysis: Detroit Lions tight ends
Hockenson has a great matchup, but that hasn’t always led to production in his case. Matthew Stafford is out indefinitely, so Jeff Driskel will be the starting QB for Detroit this afternoon. He’s a strong play in DFS formats and Hockenson comes in at $3,400, so that’s a cheap stacking option you can exploit. The issue is Hockenson isn’t getting any red-zone targets and he’s really nothing more than a GPP play in a good matchup.
As for season-long, Hockenson isn’t a bad streaming option, though his floor is limited in standard leagues and he’d likely be TD-dependent. In PPR, he’s OK as a TE2 or FLEX if that’s the case, but doesn’t offer as much upside as you’d like. I’d lean benching him unless you’re in deeper formats.
