The New England Patriots added wide receiver Mohamed Sanu to their Week 12 injury report on Wednesday, and it could be a multi-week issue. Sanu is listed with an ankle injury, and beat writer Tom Curran is reporting the injury could cost him multiple weeks.

“Last week, after he had the punt return where it appeared he might have twisted up his leg, probably led to what I’m hearing might be a high ankle sprain that could keep him on the sidelines for a couple of weeks unless it has drastic improvement,” Curran said.

This is a particularly rough time on the schedule to lose Sanu. The Patriots are hosting the Dallas Cowboys this week, then travel to Houston and host Kansas City the next two weeks. The offense still has its share of playmakers, but with Sanu likely out and Phillip Dorsett a question mark with a concussion, this could get dicey for the Patriots.

Fantasy football analysis: Patriots wide receivers

If the Patriots are without both Sanu and Dorsett this weekend, it opens the door for rookie N’Keal Harry to take advantage. Harry was activated off IR and made his NFL debut last week. He had three catches for 18 yards.

Jakobi Meyers is the other receiver to watch, and has a little more short-term upside. He’s only been targeted four times the past two games, but he had nine targets the two games prior to that and finished with nine receptions for 101 yards. If Sanu and Dorsett both sit on Sunday, Meyers is worth a look in PPR leagues.
