The Houston Texans are hoping to get back Will Fuller for Week 12 Thursday Night Football against the Indianapolis Colts, but if he is absent once again, there will be some target opportunities to go around. Two plays who have struggled to get much going in Fuller’s absence are tight ends Darren Fells and Jordan Akins.
There were times the first eight weeks in which Fells or Akins would break out with a solid performance. In Week 3, Akins had three catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Since then, he has not exceeded 39 yards and has yet to find the end zone again. Fells scored a touchdown in Week 3, two in Week 5, two in Week 8, and one in Week 9. He’s offered a little more upside, and that has resulted in him getting the slight edge in snaps over Akins.
Fantasy football analysis: Texans TEs Darren Fells, Jordan Akins
This week the Texans face a Colts defense that is right in the middle of the pack, giving up the 15th fewest fantasy points to tight ends. It’s hard to justify starting either player this week, or really most weeks.
Fells offers some upside in touchdown leagues, but in more traditional leagues does not have enough of a ceiling. Akins has never really built on that big Week 3 and there’s really no justification for even rostering him.
Start/Sit Recommendation
Darren Fells: Start in deep touchdown-only leagues
Jordan Akins: Release from your roster
