What to do with Jacoby Brissett in Week 12 fantasy football

Big injuries on offense for the Colts have impacted Jacoby Brissett’s fantasy value. We break down whether you should play or fade the QB in Week 12.

Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett has done an admirable job filling in for Andrew Luck after his sudden retirement. But it seems like injuries to skill players and inconsistency are catching up to him. Brissett hasn’t eclipsed 20 fantasy points in four straight weeks, including when he was out Week 9 vs. the Dolphins. With no T.Y. Hilton, the passing game has gone stagnant and there is a clear emphasis on running the ball and playing defense. The bright side though is a matchup on a short week vs. the Houston Texans. Let’s take a look.

Fantasy Football Analysis, Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett

The last time Brissett had a real fantasy week was against the Texans, going for 326 yards through the air with four TDs for 31.64 fantasy points. Now, that was most likely an anomaly given the rest of Brissett’s season, but Houston has been such an enigma it’s hard to tell. The Texans were just torched by Lamar Jackson and the Ravens last week and have a short week to prep for the Colts. I think this puts Brissett in a good spot, but it’ll depend on Hilton’s status.

We already know Marlon Mack will be out with a fractured hand, so Jonathan Williams and Jordan Wilkins are expected to step up in the run game. Nyheim Hines is also in play, but will likely operate in his same role on third downs. The Colts offensive line is still one of the best groups in the NFL and the Texans pass rush has been non-existent without J.J. Watt.

Still, it’s tough to trust Brissett on a short week. I’d say if your starting QB is Patrick Mahomes or Kyler Murray or Philip Rivers, then sure, Brissett may be worth picking up. But it’s risky this late in the season if the Colts QB busts on Thursday.
