UPDATE
The Dolphins pass defense is so poor that I had to move Baker Mayfield up.
The Denver defense has me concerned about Josh Allen’s upside, which we don’t see enough in tough matchups, so I’ve moved him down a bit.
Jeff Driskel feels safer each time i look at the matchup. His rushing ability should keep him from flopping and the matchups is great.
Last week it was Josh Allens turn to shine against the hapless Dolphins, as he took the QB1 crown with three touchdown passes and yet another rushing touchdown. He was even able to nose out Lamar Jackson, who threw four touchdowns but had no rushing scores.
Dak Prescott can’t seem to not score big points of late, as he now has three straight games with three touchdown passes and appears to have pushed Ezekiel Elliott out of the picture slightly.
Jeff Driskel was the surprise QB5, as an excellent passing game coupled with 51 yards rushing and a touchdown showed that he’s a fantasy quarterback to keep an eye on.
Bye Weeks
Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings
QBs on bye: Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes, Philip Rivers, Kirk Cousins
Injury/Status Report
Matthew Stafford remains week-to-week with a fractured back. There isn’t a timetable for his return, but it could come at any time. Jeff Driskel has played well in his place, so there isn’t any hurry for him to return in a lost season.
Mitchell Trubisky has a “right hip pointer” that kept him out of the end of Sunday night’s game. Coach Matt Nagy says that Trubisky remains the starting quarterback when healthy.
Deshaun Watson hurt his ankle in the loss to the Ravens but played through the injury and will play on Thursday night. An ankle injury could slow him down some against the Colts, though.
QB Ranking Tiers
Tier 1
Lamar Jackson isn’t going to budge from this spot until he slows down a little. The Rams are a strong defense, but right now, that doesn’t matter that much for Jackson. Matt Ryan heads back to the dome to take on one of the worst pass defenses in the league. Russell Wilson comes off his bye to face the Eagles pass funnel defense in what should be a close game. All three have massive upsides this week.
Tier 2
Deshaun Watson’s ailing ankle on short rest is concerning, but his upside remains high at home in a game they need badly in their division. Jameis Winston gets what would have been a smash spot three weeks ago, but the Falcons have upped their defense. They don’t have the personnel to stop Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, though. Dak Prescott has earned himself every week Tier 1 or 2 status, but he does get a test in New England.
QB Streamers
Jeff Driskel is my favorite streamer this week as he takes on a Washington team that gave up four touchdowns to Sam Darnold last week.
Jacoby Brissett revisits a Texans defense, which he tossed four touchdowns against in Week 7. That was, of course, his upside game, but with Marlon Mack out and the Texans strong against the run, we could see more Brissett this week.
