The NFL is back for another week of breakfast football in London on Sunday, with the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars kicking off at 9:30 a.m. It makes for some early decision-making, but this weekend fantasy football owners and DFS players will get an hour of welcome relief.
Week 9 falls the same weekend as daylight savings time. Early Sunday morning at 2:00 a.m., we’ll “fall back” and get an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning. We sacrifice some evening daylight through the winter, but such is life.
This will be of particular use to folks on the west coast who are not inclined to get up at 6:30 a.m. for a football game. You have time to set your DFS and fantasy lineups Saturday night, but you’ll likely miss out on inactives. In this case, wide receiver Dede Westbrook is questionable with a neck and shoulder injury that cost him the second half of last week’s game against the New York Jets. If you’re inclined to get up before 7:30 a.m. PT, daylight savings time will help you.
I have no doubt that many folks — myself included — will find ourselves waking up and wondering why football hasn’t started yet. We’ll realize it’s closer to 8:30 a.m. ET than 9:30 a.m. ET after shaking off the cobwebs, and then get ready for some football. In the meantime, this will serve as one more reminder to set your clocks back an hour tonight.
