Finding value is always the name of the game in NFL DFS. Players with salaries under $5,000, but with big roles in a given week, are gold in DFS, as you can spend up at other positions while still piling up substantial points. Here are some of the top running back plays under $5,000 on DraftKings in Week 9:

Jaylen Samuels, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Indianapolis Colts ($4,000)

We usually list our players here in descending order by salary, but Samuels’ situation is so delicious that he had to move to the front of the line. With James Conner doubtful and Benny Snell out this week for the Steelers, Samuels is going to be the every-down back and could see upwards of 25-to-30 touches here. Samuels averaged 14 carries in spot starts last season, but that was with Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback. Now, the Steelers look to hide Mason Rudolph, making Samuels the top value player on the board this week.

Devin Singletary, Buffalo Bills vs. Washington ($4,700)

Singletary was much more involved last week in his second game back from a hamstring injury, especially in the passing game, and it resulted in a 14-point effort, including a receiving h. Singletary was targeted six times in the game, and his pass-catching skills makes him very attractive on DraftKings, with the full-point PPR scoring. Dalvin Cook had five catches for 73 yards in Washington’s most-recent game. Singletary is no Cook, but the opportunities to do that kind of damage will be there this week.

Mark Walton, Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets ($4,500)

With Kenyan Drake shipped off to the desert before last Monday’s game, Walton became the de facto lead back in the Miami running attack, and he carried the ball 11 times and was targeted six times against the Steelers. The Jets, missing key personnel, will offer somewhat less resistance on defense, offering Walton a glimmer of hope that he can show Dolphins management why he’s their back of the future.
