Point spread, total, moneyline and more for Bears-Eagles in Week 9

The Bears and Eagles are close in the playoff standings, but Philly is closer to the top of their division. This is a must-win for both teams. We break down the notable odds, including point spread, ATS history, and trends.

Sunday’s Bears-Eagles matchup should clarify one of societies’ oldest questions: what happens when a completely moveable object comes into contact with a totally resistible force? The easily movable object in this case is the Eagles’ weak pass defense, who stopped Luke Falk, but let pretty much every other QB run rampant. The resistible force here is Bears’ QB Mitchell Trubisky, whose 81.4 passer rating ranks 34th, below the likes of Joe Flacco, Marcus Mariota, and Jameis Winston.

Despite the efforts of the Eagles’ pass defense and Trubisky, both of these teams remain in the playoff hunt. The Eagles are only a half-game behind the Cowboys for the division lead. The Bears’ path is a little more fraught, as they are 2.5 games back in the Wild Card race and 3.5 back in the NFC North, and they have one of the harder remaining schedules in the league. That said, with so many games remaining against NFC playoff competitors, it’s too soon to count them out. A Week 9 loss, however, would be a crushing blow.

Importantly, the Bears’ usually-intimidating defense has faltered some recently. Two RBs ran for over 100 yards and two TDs against them in the last three games. That said, in the third game, they held the Chargers to just 36 rushing yards.
