Tua Tagovailoa could be throwing again by the spring

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa underwent surgery on Monday to repair his dislocated right hip, and it was reportedly a success. He suffered the injury on Saturday against Mississippi State and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Monday evening, ESPN and SEC Network reporter Laura Rutledge reported on the next steps in Tagovailoa’s rehab process. He will be on a partial weight bearing recovery plan for six weeks. Barring no setbacks, in three months, he will be allowed to begin athletic activity, “and by the spring, he is expected to be able to resume throwing.”

Three months from now is right around when the NFL Combine gets underway in Indianapolis, Indiana. It’s safe to say Tua will not be taking part in the on-field work at the Combine. He’ll still likely be there to get his medical checks and do non-physical work — including plenty of interviews.

Pro Days follow the Combine starting in early March and running into April. Considering Tua is a potential No. 1 pick, it will be interesting to see what he is able to do for teams before the NFL Draft next April. It seems like he will be limited even into April, so how will this impact his draft stock?
