Pete Carroll: ‘We’re hoping, planning on Tyler Lockett being able to play [in Week 12]’

Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett is working his way back from a pre-bye leg injury. We break down the latest fantasy football implications heading into Week 12.

The Seattle Seahawks returned from their Week 11 bye with a Monday practice session, and wide receiver Tyler Lockett was not on the field the open media part of practice, according to AP reporter Tim Booth.

Lockett injured his leg in Week 10 and spent two nights in a Bay Area hospital before returning to Seattle. Head coach Pete Carroll was optimistic at the time that Lockett had avoided serious injury and would be able to play after the bye. On Monday, he reiterated his confidence, but hedged a little bit.

“He’s doing better. We’ll know later in the week his status. We’re hoping, planning on him being able to play, but he has to show us, so we’ll see,” Carroll said.

The Seahawks will release their first practice participation report on Wednesday. It would not be surprising to see Lockett listed as a DNP on that report. If he can get in a limited workout on Thursday, that would seem to offer optimism he could play on Sunday. Even if he gets back to practice this week, I imagine the best case scenario will be him listed as questionable and a game-time decision.

Fantasy football analysis: Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett

The Eagles are struggling against the pass. They rank 15th in pass defense efficiency and have given up the eighth most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. If Lockett is active, he’s a great start.

If Lockett does not play, DK Metcalf and Josh Gordon both gain value. Metcalf is a solid start even if Lockett does play. Gordon is a little more difficult to figure out. He’ll see a boost in work if Lockett does not play, but is a bye week fill-in at best for the time being.
