The Kansas City Chiefs released their inactives for Week 11, and we have a modest surprise. A week after being a healthy scratch, running back LeSean McCoy is active for Week 11. The team leaned on Damien Williams last week with Darrell Williams serving as his backup.
Last week’s decision seemed to confirm that Damien Williams had firmly re-secured the starting running back job. He struggled early in the season and then was sidelined with an injury. McCoy showed some flashes, but Williams returned into the starting role.
Fantasy football analysis: Chiefs RB LeSean McCoy, Damien Williams
McCoy being active raises questions about how much of Williams’ workload will be impacted. If you’re betting on Williams, remain confident for now. The ceiling might be lowered just a little bit, but it seems likely McCoy does not take a huge bite out of Williams work.
They face a Chargers defense that has struggled against the run. LA has played well against the pass of late, so we might see that much more work for Williams and McCoy if this game gets dicey for Patrick Mahomes.
McCoy would have been worth dropping if he was inactive a second straight week. If he’s still on your roster, hang on to him to see what Monday Night Football brings.
