Game Status Update: Sanders is active.

UPDATE: Sanders will play, per Adam Schefter.

There is a lot of optimism infecting the San Francisco 49ers roster. Tight end George Kittle declared that he feels fine despite being listed as doubtful, and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, listed as questionable, said that he is going to try to play this week when the team hosts the Arizona Cardinals.

Sanders has a rib injury that he has been dealing with this week. It kept him on the sidelines while the team practiced. He originally suffered the injury last week against the Seahawks.

The 49ers brought Sanders over at the trade deadline this year to fill out their offensive skill players as they gear up for a playoff run.

If I were Sanders, I’d want to play this week too. He roasted the Cardinals for 112 yards and a touchdown two weeks ago, in his second game with his new team.

Deebo Samuel is the name to know if Sanders cannot play this week. Stepping in after Sanders left last week’s game, Samuel caught eight passes on 11 targets for a 112-yard outing. And with Kittle unlikely to play, he could get even more work.
