The Philadelphia Eagles will be without the services of one Alshon Jeffery this week. The team’s No. 1 wide receiver is dealing with ankle injury, and the team ruled him out on Friday. The news could not have come at a worse time for the Eagles—they host the Patriots and a New England secondary that makes life very difficult for pass catchers.
Jeffery hurt his ankle in Week 9 against the Bears. At the time, it did not look to be too serious of an injury. The Eagles had a bye last week, giving him more time to heal, but it was not enough. Jeffery’s ankle was more of a limiting factor than previously thought to be. He could return next week, however, which is at least some good news.
Fantasy football analysis, Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery
The Eagles offense is pretty banged up, but at least Jeffery isn’t one of the five skill players, including DeSean Jackson, convalescing on injured reserve at the moment.
Next on the depth chart at receiver is Nelson Agholor. He had three catches for 21 yards two weeks ago against the Bears, working as the team’s No. 2 receiver after Jackson left in that game. Mack Hollis also figures to get more work this week, but he has been a non factor so far this season.
You’re probably best to avoid any Eagles receivers this week. The Patriots defense makes life tough for the best players at that position, so imagine what it’s like to be a backup thrust into a starting role against them.
