Colts-Jaguars matchup offers playoff implications in Week 11

The NFC South is the closest division between the No. 1 and No. 4 teams in the league. The Texans lead the division with a 6-3 record, while the Colts are second at 5-4, and the Titans and Jaguars come in at third and fourth with 5-5 and 4-5 records. What makes this division even closer, is that the Colts currently own the tiebreaker after beating the Texans in Week 7.

The Jaguars sit in last by half a game while also only being two games out of first. A win over the Colts would tie them up at 5-5 and give them the tiebreaker between the two. But a victory for the Colts would put pressure on the Texans who have a tough game in Baltimore on Sunday.

Both teams have had a recent quarterback shakeup, as the Colts lost Jacoby Brissett for almost two games and lost both to the Steelers and Dolphins with Brian Hoyer behind center. This week they get Brissett back, which is a considerable boost after watching Hoyer throw three interceptions against the lowly Dolphins.

The Jaguars also just changed quarterbacks, as Nick Foles returns from his broken collar bone to take over for Gardner Minshew. Minshew performed admirably but was inconsistent enough for the Jaguars to go with Foles out of the bye. If Foles bombs, they’ll likely return to Minshew, but by then, it will probably be too late. That makes this decision a meaningful one in such a tight division.
