After averaging three targets a game through the first six games, Fant has seen 5, 8, and 4 in his last three to go along with an increase in snap percentage to a season-high of 82 percent in his previous game. In those games, he’s had middling results with one big fantasy game of 102 yards and a touchdown before their bye.
Those 17 targets over the last three games are only bested by Courtland Sutton, who has 22. After Fant, the next closest targeted player is Royce Freeman with eight, so we can feel reasonably confident that Fant is the true No. 2 receiver at the moment.
Fantasy football analysis: Denver Broncos TE Noah Fant
This week the Broncos travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. The Vikings have allowed the seventh-most receiving yards to tight ends and the third-most receptions but no touchdowns. That’s fluky and bound to change with so many receptions and yards funneled toward the tight end position.
The Vikings are favored by 10-points, which should end up pushing the Broncos to throw. We also know that right now, they have just the two main targets in Denver, and one is Fant. That kind of target insurance against a team that gives up big reception numbers to tight ends is something we can worth with.
