Josh Doctson activated to Vikings roster with Adam Thielen out

Vikings WR Josh Doctson is coming off injured reserve in time for Week 11. We break down the fantasy football implications heading into Sunday’s game.

The Minnesota Vikings activated wide receiver Josh Doctson off injured reserve and he will be on the 53-man roster for this weekend’s matchup with the Denver Broncos. The Vikings placed Doctson on IR in Week 1 and he was eligible to return last week.

The move is timely with word that Adam Thielen will be out with a hamstring injury. Thielen injured his hamstring three weeks ago, came back last week, and then aggravated the injury. He will miss Week 11, and his status after the team’s Week 12 bye is TBD.

Fantasy football analysis: Vikings WR Josh Doctson

Doctson has not been a huge playmaker in the NFL, but he did find the end zone six times in 2017. He had a career high 44 receptions and 532 yards last season before signing with Minnesota this offseason.

Stefon Diggs and Olabisi Johnson will likely be the team’s starting wide receivers against the Broncos, but Doctson could work his way into a role. Kyle Rudolph benefits most in Thielen’s absence, but Doctson will be worth tracking. He’s not someone to roster yet unless you can afford to stash him, but he could be an intriguing waiver option if he shows some life this week.
