The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns square off in a few short hours to open Week 11 of the 2019 NFL season. Thursday Night Football brings with it a short week, and the injury report is usually a bigger issue as teams try to quickly get ready. It will impact your roster decisions for both traditional fantasy football and daily fantasy football, so some last minute roster advice is helpful.
Steelers injury report
The big news for the Steelers is the return of running back James Conner ($16,200) from his separated shoulder. Just as important from a general football perspective is the return of guard Ramon Foster. He missed two straight games with a concussion but has finally been cleared to play. Centers and tackles get the most publicity among offensive linemen, but the return of Foster will boost the Steelers offense.
Roosevelt Knix and Benny Snell are both out for the game. Neither was a significant fantasy option, but they would have eaten into Conner and Jaylen Samuels’ ($13,200) touches to some degree. Trey Edmunds ($4,800) is healthy and will be the team’s third running back. Conner will be the starter with Samuels getting primarily passing down work. If you are thinking of starting either Conner or Samuels, Edmunds is not a big concern. Maybe he vultures a touchdown, but you shouldn’t make a roster decision on that potentially happen.
Out: RB Roosevelt Nix (knee), RB Benny Snell (knee), WR Ryan Switzer (back)
Questionable: LB Anthony Chickillo (rib), CB Joe Haden (illness)
Browns injury report
The Browns are in pretty good health at this point in the season. Odell Beckham Jr. ($13,800), Jarvis Landry ($12,000), and left guard Joel Bitonio all appeared on the injury report during the week as full participants, but were removed by the end of the week.
The most notable player on the final report for fantasy purposes is tight end Ricky Seals-Jones ($5,400). He’s had two big games this year, both coming when he scored a touchdown. He had 17.2 DKFP in Week 4 on three receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown. He had 13.7 DKFP in Week 6 on three receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown. The Steelers have given up the seventh most fantasy points to tight ends. If RSJ is active, I suppose there are worse gambles in DFS!
Out: S Eric Murray (knee), DE Olivier Vernon (knee)
Questionable: T Kendall Lamm (knee), TE Ricky Seals-Jones (knee)
