The San Francisco 49ers face a moderately short week in Week 11 following their Monday Night Football loss to the Seattle Seahawks. As they begin preparations for this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, they will be monitoring running back Matt Breida’s ankle. He aggravated a sprained ankle in the second half of the game and did not return.

Breida is getting a second opinion on the injury to figure out its severity, according to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero. It’s not believed to be a serious injury, but Pelissero tweeted that Breida may miss some time to let it heal.

Fantasy football analysis: 49ers RBs Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert

Breida has dealt with ankle issues for most of the past two seasons and he has rarely missed a game. There’s a good chance he’ll be a DNP on Wednesday, so the Thursday and Friday injury reports will be the ones worth tracking.

If Breida does miss Sunday’s game, Raheem Mostert would serve in his place as Tevin Coleman’s primary backup. Breida and Coleman have had a timeshare in the backfield, with Breida actually finishing with more touches on Monday in spite of the injury. Mostert would develop into a decent flex option in deeper fantasy leagues if Breida can’t play against the Cardinals.
