If you were counting on New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon as an option down the home stretch, you can pass on that idea. Herndon finally returned in Week 10 from a hamstring injury only to suffer a fractured rib on Sunday. Head coach Adam Gase told the media he would miss an extended period of time, per team reporter Ethan Greenberg.
Ryan Griffin moves back into the Jets starting lineup at tight end following the injury. You can likely plan on waiving Herndon if you need a roster spot. Griffin has had his moments, catching six passes for 50 yards two weeks ago, and four for 66 and two touchdowns the week before that. However, it will be boom or bust with him, so there are likely better options to consider.
Herndon has been a disappointment for fantasy owners in 2019. He had a solid rookie season in 2018 and was counted on as a breakout candidate in 2019. However, a four-game suspension followed by the hamstring injury and now this rib injury have turned the season into a lost one for him.
