The Atlanta Falcons will wait on pins and needles Monday as running back Devonta Freeman undergoes an MRI on his injured foot, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. Freeman left Sunday’s win over the New Orleans Saints in the third quarter with what is being described as a foot sprain, and Brian Hill replaced him the rest of the way.

Freeman had ten rushes for 38 yards and three receptions for ten yards at the time of his injury. Hill got a sizable workload in Freeman’s absence as the Falcons looked to run out the clock. He had 20 rushing attempts and one reception for 71 total yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy football analysis: Falcons RBs Devonta Freeman, Brian Hill

The Falcons travel to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 11, and it’s a great matchup for whomever is starting at running back. Carolina gave up 168 yards rushing to Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams in Week 10, and Jones punched in three rushing touchdowns.

Hill would be a strong add on the fantasy football waiver wire if Freeman is going to miss any time. And even if Freeman is healthy, Hill is worth a spot on your bench in case he aggravates the injury. With Ito Smith out for the rest of the season with a concussion, Hill is the backup to own.
