What to do in Week 11 following Devonta Freeman ankle injury [UPDATE]

The Falcons lost their running back to a third quarter foot injury. We break down the fantasy football implications for Freeman and Brian Hill heading into Week 11.

UPDATE: Freeman suffered a foot sprain and is getting an MRI on Monday. His status for Week 11 is unknown.

The Atlanta Falcons suffered a couple injuries of note in their huge Week 10 win over the New Orleans Saints. Austin Hooper suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter and running back Devonta Freeman suffered a foot injury in the third quarter.

Freeman departed the game with ten rushes for 38 yards and three receptions for ten yards. Brian Hill replaced him and finished the game with 20 rushes for 61 yards and one ten-yard touchdown reception. His rushing attempts were so high thanks to a rare big lead for the Falcons in the fourth quarter.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn did not have any details on the injury, so we are likely going to have to wait until later on Monday for more information. The Falcons don’t return to practice until Wednesday, so we likely will be waiting until their practice participation reports for a better idea of what’s going on.

Fantasy football analysis: Brian Hill, waiver wire options

Hill benefited from garbage time carries, but even still, he’s a solid addition this week. If Freeman misses time, Hill is the Week 11 starter against a Panthers defense that had given up the fifth most fantasy points entering Week 10 and got chewed up by Aaron Jones on Sunday. If you own Freeman and we find out Freeman is good to go, Hill is worth adding as a handcuff.

There are not many great options on the waiver wire if you don’t land Hill. Kalen Ballage will keep getting starter snaps in Miami, but that is a pretty crummy situation. Ty Johnson took over the lead in Detroit but suffered a Week 10 concussion. His backup J.D. McKissic is a decent option for PPR leagues but not standard leagues. Related to PPR leagues, Nyheim Hines has some modest value with the Colts.
