UPDATE #2: Smith-Schuster is expected to play, according to a gameday morning report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini. If you were planning on starting him in fantasy football, consider this sufficient confirmation heading into the 1:00 p.m. games.
UPDATE: On Saturday afternoon, a Steelers beat writer tweeted that he expects JuJu Smith-Schuster to play on Sunday. The Steelers don’t play until 4:25 p.m., so that might be the only information you get before the 1:00 p.m. kickoffs.
The Los Angeles Rams have a date on Sunday afternoon with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Naturally, the lead up to that game has been filled with Rams cornerback and elite heel Jalen Ramsey trash talking the wide receiver he could be seeing a lot of this week—JuJu Smith-Schuster. Unfortunately for Ramsey and the Steelers, Smith-Schuster might not play at all in Week 10.
He showed up on the injury report this week with a questionable designation. A toe injury is bothering him, which was a problem earlier this season too. Smith-Schuster was on the field for Friday’s practice, but he was limited in the work he did.
This is shaping up to be a game-time decision for the Steelers.
Fantasy football analysis, Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
JuJu is coming off a real dud of a game last week against the Colts; he caught three passes for 16 yards. That happens when Mason Rudolph is your quarterback. James Washington could be the better play this week, even if JuJu does suit up. He caught four passes for 69 yards this week, and isn’t as likely to draw as much attention from defenses. Diontae Johnson is another option, but more of a risky start in fantasy.
There is almost no certainty for Steelers receivers beyond Smith-Schuster, and even that’s limited. Running back Jaylen Samuels has emerged as the backup QB’s top target.
